First, I want to thank all of Michael’s family, neighbors, co-workers and Friends, for being here to mourn and celebrate the life of Michael Anthony Gomez, who was born on December 31st, 1973, at 3:07 a.m. his life came to a sudden end on December 27th, 2017, at 7:03 p.m. forgive me because I am not going to give the usual eulogy that others give. I don’t want to highlight his strengths or admirable traits or recall good memories rather; I want to shed light on where he failed. Michael failed to love others and to have compassion for others, he was selfish. everything had to revolve around his schedule and when he gave, whatever it was, it was begrudgingly, and he felt he deserved something in return. He did not want to have responsibilities, responsibilities seemed to crush his freedom. Michael did love his wife and would even die for her, but his desires of the flesh had taken a stronghold in his heart and so he was a man divided. he could not stand for love when his heart was captive to lust.
so, this tore away at his heart. where an intense battle within him ultimately brought him to depression, to a low Point Beyond recovery.
these desires that plagued him killed him before he actually died. His relationship with Christ was a torrid affair that was strong at one time, but Michael’s heart became captive to other things And more and more there was no room for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus continued to knock on the door of Michael’s heart though but to no avail he hid behind the shades wearing shackles and chains that were not even locked. they had been broken open by the blood of Jesus and Michael despaired over being in a jail cell when the cell door had been open wide to him. He didn’t understand or worse he did, but the lust of his heart became his God knowing one cannot serve two masters, Michael chose to serve his lustful heart, while keeping Jesus off in the distance. Michael did not live lukewarm he was either hot or cold and the lust of his heart turned him to ice. Michael knew he had to die. he knew he had to pick up his cross and follow Jesus, but he had put it down at some point. It hurt to carry that cross, the weight of it which Michael only made heavier and heavier by the gods of lust he worshipped, weighing Michael down till he came to his end, and he died. he died to the pursuit of worldly pleasure but found new life in the victory of the empty tomb. it took death to show him what life is in Christ. it took being crushed and being beaten to a pulp to know the cost of a redeemed life. for some it takes death to begin to truly live, sacrificing your passions and to be left only with Christ. to lose all but gain Christ. this is life and life indeed. to lose all and every bit of oneself that runs contrary to Christ Our God and our King, to truly know him as Lord and as Savior even when we lose everything. when all of it is Stripped Away, Jesus Christ remains. yes, only Christ remains.
